The Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society is primarily funded through membership fees and rental income from the Old Customs House building on Mizingani Road. The Old Customs House was restored by Aga Khan Cultural Services with funding from the Embassy of Sweden (Sida) in 2001. After its restoration Aga Khan and the Zanzibar Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding that placed the building under the stewardship of the ZSTHS.
The ZSTHS is entering into an exciting project with the World Monument Fund and the Anglican Diocese of Zanzibar, funded by the European Union. We will be keeping you updated on the progress of the project activities, starting late 2013.
